Update

Hello everyone. It has been awhile since I’ve updated the journal, but I have been busier lately with working full time again. Thankfully I have been able to work and once again TCS has gone over board in helping me…
… First though I need to update on my health. My last appointment didn’t go so well. I wasn’t able to do a full dose of chemo because of my numbness in hands and feet being so severe. Also I was informed that I only have months to live with treatment and less months to live without treatment. Of course when I asked how many months months is I was unable to get an answer. I don’t want to dwell too much on the life expectancy, but basically I need more chemo and my body isn’t handling chemo all that well. Options outside of chemo are very limited because of how wide spread the cancer is and that it is in around the spine right behind my heart. Bottom line for me hasn’t changed and Amanda and I have been coping well. Part of the delay between journals is because for awhile I didn’t want to share this info. I’m not sure why I didn’t want to share, but anyway…
Back to work. If the doctor is correct and I only have months left I really don’t want to work weekends any longer. I’d rather spend the time with my kids/wife. Right after getting my bad news I noticed a first shift dispatch position was open at TCS. I was willing to take the pay cut and drop 3 levels at work to get off weekends but management/HR at TCS were really awesome and didn’t allow me to do it. They will allow me to work Mondays and Friday in transportation and then work as a floater for dispatch/customer service Tuesday through Thursdays instead. Changing careers about 10 years ago and working for TCS has been one of my better decisions in life. I highly doubt my old company would have done this for me. I really can’t thank TCS enough.
